Hambisana enables MultiChoice Accredited Systems integrators to protect hospitality Video On Demand - Monday, February 28, 2011
One of the requirements of any media content provider is that all content must be protected to eliminate the possibility of piracy.
To meet this requirement, MultiChoice configured equipment to do mass encryption of video on demand (VOD) content. Hambisana was contracted to create a software solution to automate the encryption process.

This is done by allowing system integrators (Si’s) to upload clear unencrypted content to a service. The application then takes over performing standards testing, file encryption and notifying the SI that the file(s) are encrypted and available for download. The IS will then distribute the asset to hospitality customers.

Only a MultiChoice hospitality set top box will then be able to play out the encrypted VOD file.

MultiChoice Command Centre 2011 - Monday, February 07, 2011
Hambisana in partnership with MultiChoice started developing a new product to do provide full viewing, monitoring and alarming solution for the IS7 and W7 Satellite platforms. Across the DSTV platforms more than 300 channels are simultaneously monitored, analysed and displayed in the fully revamped new command centre. In the MultiChoice quest of "Enriching Lives" they replaced old equipment with 28 state of the art rear projection screens. Hambisana's new DVB Monitoring software is the driver behind this great hardware and gives this world class broadcaster full flexibility with regards to their monitoring needs. The system works by firstly converting the standard DVB stream into IP and then multiple agents (up to 49 per screen) individually analyses every single packet and alarms if any anomalies are detected.

With the flexibility of IP, monitoring is not restricted and different technologies can also be added to the process. This give the system the ability to monitor DVB-S, DVB-H, DVB-C, DVB-T and even decoded VGA, SVGA and composite streams. Another great benefit of IP is that the solution becomes mobile and remote monitoring and alarming can now also be achieved.

With the partnership, Hambisana was able to provide a DVB Monitoring Solution that is a fully flexible and efficient system that can compete on an international level.

Hambisana and Smart Village implement IPTV Solution at Sun International's Wild Coast Sun Hotel - Friday, February 04, 2011
Smart Village a MultiChoice Accredited System Integrator was awarded the contract in 2010 to implement a new IPTV solution. Wild Coast Sun refitted all their rooms with state of the art technologies, ranging from energy optimization censors, lighting, air conditioners, more eco-friendly bathroom accessories, VOIP and a new IP enabled TV system.

Combining the MultiChoice IP enabled decoder or set top box (STB) with new full HD screens, Sun International can now provide the same experience for the guest as what they can experience at home. Hambisana managed to further enhance this feature by developing an application that is integrated with the STB. The application is a known as a portal that enhances the TV with interactivity between the screen and operator, being IP enabled, the portals provide a platform that can be utilized for any application or process directly on the biggest screen in the room. Guests are now able to view block buster video on demand (VOD) content, retrieve internet content such as currencies and weather and view their bill on the TV. This is all made possible by our IPTV backend server that acts as a gateway between different sources. The most important component for Wild Coast Sun was the integration with the hotel billing system, Micros Fidellio. With the integration, a personalized welcome message can be displayed and all the Micros features can now be exposed to the guest.

Future features might include marketing and advertisement opportunities, games, room service, reminders, messages, booking of golf and spa’s, access to a camera overlooking the ocean and much, much more.
